Upcoming Workshop: Talking Taboo OCD

Do you live with taboo obsessions (pedophilia, violence, necrophilia, bestiality, rape, etc.) that torment you? Are they not just scary “what if” thoughts but images, “urges,” and command thoughts, too? Do shame and stigma make it difficult for you to open up to others about your experience? Even a therapist who you worry might report you? Do you constantly feel guilty, like you’ve done something bad, or shameful, like you are bad, for having these obsessions?

Are you worried that your OCD might not actually be OCD because you feel something down there when you have the thoughts? Because they show up in your dreams and while you’re having sex and at every possible turn? Do you worry that you’ve lost your identity because of OCD?

Do you want to learn more about the ins and outs of taboo OCD in a safe space? From someone who has lived through taboo OCD? If so, this workshop is for you!

In the hour presentation, I will address:

  • Common taboo obsessions (violence, incest, pedophilia, bestiality, rape, necrophilia, postpartum, etc.) and compulsions

  • Uncertainty vs. Doubt (resolving doubt with taboo themes)

  • Managing guilt and shame related to taboo OCD

  • Perceived loss of identity and taboo obsessions

  • The groinal response and arousal non-concordance

  • Porn usage as a compulsion

  • Managing sexual intimacy while living with unwanted sexual obsessions

  • Command intrusive thoughts, unwanted urges, OCD appearing in dreams, and the things that make OCD feel more real

  • How to talk to others about taboo obsessions (if you desire doing so)

  • And more!

This workshop is 1 hour of presentation and 30 minutes of a live Q&A.

If you cannot attend live, you can purchase a ticket and receive a copy of the workshop recording. Everyone who purchases a ticket will receive the recording.

The Zoom link will be sent to your email one hour prior to the workshop on Saturday, May 3.
